Am I Allowed to have Pets?
Unfornunately our premises, gardens and wildlife are not pet friendly so we don't allow pets in our Apartments

Do you have a Smoking Policy?
For the safety and health of our residents we operate a No Smoking Poliy in our flats, near our buildings and gardens. We do have a designated Smoking Area at the end of the garden. Similar, we do not permit candles or naked flames in the building.

What is the rent?
Firstly, Almshouse do not change rent. We have 'Maintenance Charge' to live in each apartment. All residents are granted a 'Licence to Occupy', in that as long as you meet our criteria you will be granted a licence to live in the apartment. Should, as an example, you are fortunate to have a massive win on the lottery then your financial aspects would change and we would seek to offer the apartment to another suitable beneficiary.
As a Guide in 2026, our Maintenance Fee is approx £520 per month. (Please confirm the exact price with the Clerk).
Our Clerk works with the Local Housing Authority to accept payments directly from them, if you are eligible. Payments are to be made electronically for 'full months' in advance, with no minimum term.

What are the heating bills?
We have a communal heating system to heat the radiators. Our flats are cosy and warm. As a guide, in 2026, the Heating charge is approximately £125 pm to cover the swings in energy prices and use over the summer and winter months. (Please confirm the exact price with the Clerk).

What is the Application Process?
Applying is straight forward:
Contact the Clerk and ask if we have any vacancies. (See our Contacts Page)
If available, visit us for a tour and to see the available Apartment.
Confirm to the Clerk that you would like to be considered for an Apatment
Complete our Application Form (on paper)
Attend an informal interview with a couple of our Trustees to discuss your application. Remember to bring your family / support friend!
